TINY LADIES

In February 2003, we released "Tiny Ladies," the soundtrack to the novel of the same name by Roman Evening singer Adam Klein.

This collection of songs and instrumentals was written to dovetail with the moods and themes of the novel. We hope you'll listen while you read.

Tiny Ladies the novel was released in England in February and in the United States in May. It's currently available at local bookstores everywhere, and from Serpent's Tail in England and other online booksellers.

Among the early reviews of the book:

"One of the most disturbing and arresting books I have come across in some time... In muted and almost musical prose, eerily suspenseful but miraculously lacking in melodrama... An engrossing and beautifully written book"
London Observer (March 2, 2003)

"A compelling psychological thriller, written in stylish lyrical prose...Tense, harrowing, yet as delicate as a house of cards, this is an excellent, unusually chilling novel"
Sainsbury's Magazine (March 2003 issue)

"Klein's delicate yet steely prose captures the complexities of fractured lives, while spinning a captivating yarn. An original and impressive slice of dark America."
Big Issue (February 24, 2003)

"Deep and thoughtful...this novel should see Klein placed neatly into the "authors to watch" file."
"Big Issue in the North (February 22, 2003)

"[A] bizarre combination of Dostoevsky, Jim Thompson, and Robert Altman."
Kirkus Reviews

Splendid E-Zine

The soundtrack is available from Bitter Stag Records. We offer you two samples, which don't come close to exhausting the strangeness and variety of this CD.

1. Casework (dedicated to beleaguered social service workers everywhere)

2. Tiny Ladies Theme (instrumental)

Praise for the 2002 debut, "Together Now."

"[A] beatifically spare, elegant quirk of an album ... utterly unique, proudly weird in its own right, like a gorgeous but carnivorous orchid." Jenn Sikes, splendid e-zine

"[A] messy, dissolute record that pulls off the stunt of being musically emotionally open while lyrically open to interpretation. The album is like a sad smile from a distant acquaintance..." John Scalzi, indiecrit.com

"[T]his debut album by SF-based Roman Evening... is, at its core, thoughtful rather than angst-ridden, filled with ghostly ruminations of the nature of love, life and yes, death. Entralling." powerofpop.tripod.com
